A serious accident has occurred in the St. Andrä tunnel near Villach on the A10 Tauernautobahn.
The emergency helicopter RK1 of the ARA air rescue service was involved in a serious traffic accident on Monday evening in the St. Andrä tunnel near Villach – between the Villach and Villach-West interchange – on the A10. A seriously injured person must be rescued by the emergency services and treated by the ARA-Med crew.
A truck is said to have grabbed the shock absorber at the tunnel portal in the direction of Salzburg and slid about 90 meters into the tunnel. The driver was injured in the accident and was taken away by the helicopter team.
The truck caught fire. The fire brigade has also been turned out.
The A10 towards Villach will be closed for another hour for recovery of the truck – so probably until about 7pm; About three hours to Salzburg, because some things need to be repaired.
