Summer, nice weather, Friday: a combination that will probably attract many cyclists to the streets. So also a 34-year-old from Amstetten. However, the exit at Grünau ended fatally for him: during an overtaking maneuver he collided head-on with a car and died at the scene of the accident.
On Friday, the 34-year-old from Amstetten rode his black and yellow bicycle along the Almsee Landesstraße towards Grünau. During an evasive or overtaking maneuver, the motorcyclist switched to the left lane and collided head-on with an oncoming car in which a 48-year-old Pole was sitting.
Attempts at resuscitation failed
The fall pushed the motorcyclist under the car’s engine block. First responders and the emergency helicopter team attempted to resuscitate the 34-year-old. He succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident.
