The 24-year-old Florian had to experience the absolute nightmare of every manure voter in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. He was pulled into the mobile press by the garbage truck’s hoist – and barely survived!
Florian and his colleague Leo, the driver of the garbage truck, were out on Friday morning to empty the yellow bins. The men were just hooking a bin onto the tipping mechanism of the mobile trash compactor when it suddenly started to move up and down uncontrollably. The 24-year-old got caught in the device with his clothes, was carried away and pushed with his head into the compactor.
Colleague pressed the emergency stop
His colleague reacted quickly and pressed the emergency stop. He warned the emergency services and Florian was liberated by the fire brigade with special equipment, the ‘image’ reports. “If the press had continued, it could have been fatal,” says the operational manager of the volunteer fire brigade.
The young garbage man was miraculously only slightly injured and taken to the hospital. Via Facebook to his rescuers: “I was more than just afraid of death. I don’t think I would be where I am today without your help. I am still in very serious shock.” He also thanked his colleague for his prompt intervention.
