Hurricane Idalia made landfall on Florida’s northwest coast on Wednesday Keaton beachwith winds of 125 miles per hour (205 kph), as reported by the U.S. National Hurricane Center.

According to the NHC, sea levels in the area are rising rapidly. On Cedar Key, further south than Keaton Beach, a NOAA tide buoy has recorded a 5-foot (1.7 m) rise in water levels.
The hurricane is now moving in a north-northeast direction at a speed of 30 km/h.
According to winds recorded by the hurricane chaser aircraft, Idalia is a hurricane with Category 3 winds when it makes landfall. About two hours before landing, the wind was 130 miles per hour (225 km/h), i.e. Category 4.
According to the NHC, while Idalia should weaken after landfall, Idalia is likely to remain a hurricane as it passes through southern Georgia and near coastal Georgia or southern South Carolina later today.
