Norbert Hofer went on a special cave expedition with the “Krone”. The moving reason for the journey to mysterious worlds has to do with his own family history.
“A stalactite second is 1,000 human years. Because the formations grow only three millimeters in 100 years. Scientifically possible dates end at 200,000 years. But this range is just a glimpse of the past. In reality, everything is unfathomably older,” cave guide Fritz Geissler tries to illustrate the incomprehensible dimensions of time. Two years before Hofer’s death in 2003, Hermann Hofer entrusted him with the guardianship of the mysterious world of stalactites: the stalactites that hung from the ceiling and their counterpart, the stalagmites that grew out of the ground.
