After a sports injury, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had to cancel an appointment in Hesse that was scheduled for Sunday. He fell while jogging in his hometown of Potsdam on Saturday.
A spokeswoman for the German federal government announced on Saturday that Scholz had fallen while jogging and suffered bruises on his face. He stumbled on his normal route and couldn’t restrain himself in time and fell on his face. His right eye was severely swollen, the ‘image’ reports.
Scholz has been jogging for years and he should take the time to do it two to three times a week. Since he became chancellor, bodyguards have accompanied him everywhere.
In the program ‘Brigitte live’, Scholz said during the 2021 election campaign that he only started jogging at the age of 40. He doesn’t listen to music or wear heart rate monitors. He just feels “amazingly good” and he enjoys it.
Campaign date cancelled
The spokeswoman emphasized that Scholz’s appointments in the coming week will not be affected by his injury. He was originally expected on Sunday for the election campaign in Hesse. The state will hold elections on October 8.
