Police found several packages of cocaine in various supermarkets in Berlin and Brandenburg on Thursday morning. A total of four markets in different districts of Brandenburg and seven markets in Berlin were affected, a spokeswoman for the police in Potsdam announced.
According to their own statements, the officials were informed in the morning by employees of the branch. Accordingly, the packages were in banana boxes among the fruits. A rapid test confirmed the cocaine suspicion in the afternoon, but officials left the quantity of the drug open. According to reports, Lidl stores in particular were affected.
“There has been an absolute abundance of cocaine for years”
The police union, meanwhile, was not surprised by the discovery. It is not surprising that “every now and then a delivery gets lost and ends up in the supermarket, especially since fruit boxes are often used anyway,” Stephan Weh, head of the police union in Berlin, said on Thursday. “We have been dealing with an absolute glut of cocaine for years.”
