The army says the Ukrainian navy destroyed a Russian warship on the Black Sea coast. Six occupiers were killed and two injured, the Ukrainian navy said on Sunday. In return, Russia reports that the landing of Ukrainian boats in Crimea has been thwarted.
A video released by the Ukrainian military (above) showed people unloading the patrol boat and taking things to shore from a drone perspective. Shortly afterwards, an explosion follows. There was no information on when the recording was dated.
The enemy crew of the Russian boat went ashore in the northwestern Black Sea in the Kherson region, Ukraine’s defense ministry said. The information provided by the military could not be independently verified.
Moscow prevents landing in Crimea
In return, the Russian side reported that naval aircraft had destroyed four US inflatable boats carrying Ukrainian landing troops in the northwestern part of the Black Sea. The US Navy’s Willard-type inflatable boats were heading for Cape Tarkhankut on the Crimean peninsula, the ministry said via Telegram.
Ukraine did not initially comment. It is the declared goal of the Kiev government to bring back Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014.
South Africa: no arms delivered to Russia
South Africa says it has found no evidence that a Russian ship loaded weapons in South Africa and transported them to Russia in late 2022. None of these claims have turned out to be true, President Cyril Ramaphosa said in an address to the nation. “No license has been issued for arms exports and no arms have been exported.”
The US ambassador to South Africa, Reuben Brigety, said in May that the Russian freighter Lady R had loaded weapons at a naval base near Cape Town in December. This had raised questions about South Africa’s neutrality stance towards Russia’s actions in Ukraine and possible Western sanctions against South Africa.
