An Israeli soldier was released during an operation by ground forces in the Gaza Strip, according to the army. The woman kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 is in good condition and has already met her family, the army said on Twitter on Monday.
Hamas is still holding hundreds of hostages. The Israeli military said it has informed 239 families. According to the army, forty people are still missing since the Hamas terror attack. Due to the poor condition of many of the bodies, identification has not yet been completed.
German Shani Louk killed
Most recently it was announced that the kidnapped German Shani Louk had been murdered. Israel’s Foreign Ministry said Monday that the 23-year-old’s body had been found and identified. Louk had attended a rave festival in southern Israel that was raided by Hamas. The German government also confirmed the death.
Since the start of the Gaza war, 1,135 dead Israelis have been identified and 715 buried, Israeli authorities announced on Monday, according to Haaretz. So far, 823 killed civilians have been identified, representing 85 percent of civilian casualties since the fighting began.
The Israeli army continues to advance in Gaza
According to the newspaper, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) allowed the names of the 312 identified soldiers killed during the fighting to be released. Police, the IDF, the Ministry of Health, the Institute of Forensic Medicine and volunteer organizations continue to identify the victims of the massacre in southern Israel at the Shura military facility.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army continues to advance into the Gaza Strip. The army said Monday it had killed dozens of Hamas fighters during its advance. However, to protect the troops, the exact locations are not being disclosed. Based on aerial photographs, CNN reporters assumed that the IDF had advanced about two miles into the Gaza Strip.
