There is no sad certainty yet, but the discovery of a body on the Brazilian island of Florianó raises fears for the worst. More than a week and a half ago, 45-year-old entrepreneur Michael L. from Austria disappeared without a trace from the beach.
On Saturday, the large-scale search, including sniffer dogs, vessels, drones and helicopters, for the Austrian Michael L., who disappeared a week and a half ago, was officially stopped on the Brazilian island of Santa Catarina.
On Sunday, local residents finally raised the alarm: a male body had washed up on the shore.
Identity not yet clear
Although Brazilian authorities fear that the undressed dead man is the 45-year-old missing entrepreneur from Austria, this has not yet been confirmed due to the condition of the body.
After being taken away by the rescue service, the body was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Praia dos Açores.
A forensic medical examination must now bring clarity and possibly sad certainty.
