The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. The 79-year-old drove the car on the glacier road next to the reservoir in Kaunertal. “When the driver briefly looked to the other side of the river, he parked his car on a curb or an embankment,” the researchers say.
Freed by firefighters
The car then overturned. The two occupants were lucky and were able to get out of the car unharmed. The driver was not: he suffered injuries and had to be freed by the fire brigade. The rescue helicopter flew the 79-year-old to Zams Hospital.
