The quad bike tour ended tragically on Monday in the municipality of Diex in Carinthia. A 59-year-old fell to his death. His daughter was on the passenger.
Together with his 27-year-old daughter, the man was on Monday around 3:45 p.m. with his quad on the municipal road in Diex. The tragic accident happened shortly after the duo left their father’s estate in the direction of Schwarzgraben-Wandelitzen.
Fallen over a steep embankment
On the paved road, the quad suddenly went off the road, rolled about four meters over a steep embankment and then came to a stop on a level surface. “The 59-year-old suffered fatal injuries,” state police said.
The daughter received a severe shock, but was unharmed and immediately started the rescue chain. For her father, however, all help came too late, despite immediate resuscitation measures.
Police say it is still unclear why the accident happened.
