Police are looking for witnesses – 30 garbage bags discarded in the Vorarlberg gorge

Date:

The Rappenloch gorge in Dornbirn (Vorarlberg) is a unique natural jewel. This special treasure was literally desecrated on Monday night: unknown perpetrators illegally threw about thirty bulging garbage bags into the canyon and the excitement was correspondingly high.

It is an unprecedented act of environmental pollution: Monday morning, construction workers discovered a number of rubbish bags on the foundations of Rappenloch Bridge, some of which had already burst, and their contents scattered all over the Ebniterach streambed. Apparently unknown perpetrators had thrown large amounts of rubbish off the bridge the night before.

Looking for clues
Disposing of the bags takes a lot of effort and is not without risk: city employees have to abseil from the bridge to recover the waste. This is now being extensively investigated, which may lead to clues for the perpetrators. The Dornbirn city police are also hoping for clues from any witnesses to the environmental crime.
