Romanian Defense Minister Angel Tivar has confirmed that parts of a Russian drone were seized on Romanian territory after the September 4 attack on the Ukrainian port city of Odessa.
Parts of the unmanned aerial vehicle were discovered not far from the Romanian town of Tulcea, near the village of Plauru, the politician told TV channel A3CNN.
On September 4, Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko said that several Shahed-type kamikaze drones had crashed and exploded over Romanian territory during the attack in the port area of Izmail. He noted that the “Russian missile terror” poses a major threat not only to Ukraine, but also to neighboring countries – including NATO member states.
Romania’s Defense Ministry initially denied this, saying Russian drone strikes would not pose a direct military threat to the country.
