The load was scattered in the ditch, the highway closed for hours: Wednesday afternoon a truck rolled on the Innkreisautobahn near Andrichsfurt (Upper Austria) and came to a stop on its side half in the ditch, half on the road. Fortunately, the driver was ‘only’ slightly injured and the clean-up work is complicated.
Emergency services were called just before 3 p.m. For unknown reasons, a truck with a trailer went off the road on the A8, overturned and then came to a stop on the side. The cargo of the truck – presumably packaging material – is in the ditch.
The truck driver was taken to Ried Hospital with minor injuries.
The result was long traffic jams
Motorists need a lot of patience: the Innkreisautobahn is closed towards Passau, resulting in long traffic jams. According to information from the local police, there is already a backlog of 23 km.
Fuel escaped in large quantities
In the early evening hours, the recovery of the overturned trailer was still in full swing. It is likely that a large amount of fuel also spilled into the surrounding soil.
