For weeks, a Tyrolean family in Hochfilzen (Kitzbühel district) took care of an unknown stray kitten. Then everyone was perplexed: the fur tiger came from Vienna. How he managed to do this will probably always remain a mystery.
Daniel Kandler was surprised when a strange cat watched him while he was watching TV one evening in early August. Shortly afterwards, the uninvited guest disappeared again with a striking black spot on his nose.
Kitty hid in the bathtub
The following evening the spectacle was repeated. This time Kandler was successful: he discovered the intruder in the bathtub and asked him out. Inquiries in the neighborhood turned up nothing; no one knew the cat.
After a week, the mysterious beauty of Kandler’s partner, Iris Güttler, suddenly stroked her legs in the garden. “The cat kept appearing after that. “But we didn’t really think about it,” recalls Daniel Kandler. Because the cat did not seem to be neglected and many furry tigers live in the settlement. Of course she was well taken care of by the animal-loving family with their children Luca and Alicia.
Trailer covered with tarpaulin as a home
It turned out that the intruder “lived” with the neighbor under the tarpaulin of a trailer. The origin remained – for the time being – unknown.
Monday this week the Unterlanders took the cat to the vet. She discovered a chip and read it. The result surprised everyone: the unknown person was four-year-old Nissa-Koshka, who had been missing since June 27 (!) in Vienna.
“We got your cat!”
Neither Daniel Kandler nor owner Medina know how the kitten made it the nearly 250 miles to Hochfilzen. In any case, she immediately received a text message: “We have your cat!” The joy in Vienna was great.
„Lost Hope!”
A day later, Daniel Kandler and son Luca left with the Tyrolean of their choice in the car to the 20th district and handed her over to the overjoyed Medina. “The cat suddenly disappeared and after a month I had lost hope,” Medina recalled in an interview with the “Krone”. “We are very grateful, Nissa-Koshka is doing very well,” Medina said on Wednesday.
Stowaway on a small truck?
Only the cat itself knows how the fur tiger completed the Ultramarathon Vienna-Tyrol. “I can best imagine her traveling as a stowaway in a small truck,” says Daniel Kandler. In any case, a stone’s throw looks completely different.
