Strong reactions – “My son always cried when he had to go there”

Date:

A teacher would have passed on at least three children. Parents talk about kindergarten. Your concerns were ignored. The scandal also provoked politically violent reactions.

More and more details come to light in the Penzing kindergarten scandal uncovered by the “Krone”. A teacher allegedly assaulted girls and boys. The public prosecutor is investigating three cases. The alleged attacks date from more than a year ago. However, the parents were only informed now – 13 months later.

There could be more victims who have lost precious time without proper help. The “Krone” spoke to several parents. They paint a disturbing picture of everyday life in preschool and the effects it has to this day: feelings of anxiety, speechlessness and strange tics when interacting with others.

Man had only taken care of collection group
“My son cried every day for eight months when he had to go to kindergarten,” says one mother. Due to a speech impediment, however, he was unable to put into words why. It didn’t dawn on the woman until she noticed how unnaturally physically the worker hugged the two- and three-year-olds. He would have run over girls’ bare bellies and touched them inappropriately, says another mother. Special: The man is said to have taken care of the collection group on his own.

Head didn’t take the concerns seriously
The manager did not take their concerns seriously or downplay them, those involved say. The teacher was deducted and transferred when the first accusations surfaced. However, no other family was notified, despite the parents’ request.

“All victims deserve compensation.”
Is that negligence, non-assistance or complicity? Parents’ lawyer Johannes Bügler wants to clarify this further. He demands three points: “The city must now ruthlessly tell the truth. All victims deserve compensation. And those responsible must ensure that nothing like this ever happens again.”
