A farmer and bus driver came home drunk: lurking animal rights activists alerted the police at night!
The part-time farmer from a small district of Obergravendorf (Lower Austria) had long been in the crosshairs of the veterinary authorities due to the very disturbing behavior of his horse, a cow and a pig (also called his wife by the unfortunate farmer). But there was apparently no evidence to intervene – so the activists of the association ‘People for Animals – together we are strong’ led by Claudia Polat took control.
Animals starving and without water
Worried about a completely starved horse and a no less skinny cow, as well as the sow in question, they lay in wait for the farmer returning home after a bus ride. He came home drunk and had to hand in his driver’s license to the police, who were immediately alerted!
Animals removed for further use
Officials had already investigated suspected animal abuse in the filthy building of its hopelessly overwhelmed owner. Due to his journeys, he would often not have fed or watered his four-legged friends for days.
Also a human tragedy
On Thursday morning, the official veterinarian, who had apparently been aware of the problems for some time, decided to remove the cattle. It was taken to a beautiful shrine.
