Within an hour, two cars were completely on fire in Vienna

Date:

The Vienna fire brigade had to be called twice in a short time on Saturday due to a car that was completely on fire. In both cases the flames could be controlled and extinguished using a fire extinguishing line with respiratory protection.

At around 12.45 pm, a car caught fire on the A23 southbound, before the Absbergtunnel. Almost 45 minutes later, the fire brigade had to be deployed again due to a burning car on the Brigittenauerbrücke, near the exit towards Klosterneuburg.

Fortunately, no one was injured in either case; the fire brigade was able to extinguish, rescue and remove the vehicles, the professional fire brigade reports.

“Daily On average, five cars burn in Austria,” according to the figure from the Austrian Federal Fire Brigade Association (ÖBFV), which is available to the ÖAMTC. “On the one hand, vehicles repeatedly start to burn in the engine compartment, on the other hand, fires are caused by accidents.” This can also lead to life-threatening situations.

However, quick help often fails because of two things: first, most people do not have a fire extinguisher in the car, and second, witnesses to an accident often do not approach the source of the fire out of fear.
