Ten fox babies have been rescued in Lower Austria and taken to the animal shelter in Vösendorf (Mödling district). Four were discovered Wednesday under a shipping container in Brunn am Berge (Mödling district) because they cried for their mother at night. Six young foxes were found Friday in a barn in Enzersdorf im Thale, a borough of Hollabrunn.
The foxes – in both cases they are brothers and sisters – are now being cared for day and night, Tierschutz Austria announced on Thursday. The elderly are already starting to eat independently, but are still being bottle-fed by caregivers.
“When discovering such young wild animals, it is very important to observe for a long time what is happening and not to intervene immediately; maybe the mother animal is very close. This was unfortunately not the case with our foxes; After a long wait, they were rescued and taken to our animal shelter for care,” said Madeleine Petrovic, president of Tierschutz Austria.
