The Basque government approved on Tuesday more than 120 million euros with the aim of contributing to business economic development with three approaches: industrial decarbonization; the development of R&D&I, and the diversification and modernization of fisheries with new opportunities for aquaculture projects. These are three tools for businesses.
The Minister of Economic Development and Infrastructure, Arantxa Tapiarecalled at a press conference that the industry of the Basque Autonomous Community has managed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 45% since 2005, thanks to modernization processes.
However, in order to achieve climate neutrality, the executive branch will support new investments through a new program equipped with 10 million euros.
This concerns support for industrial companies and related services linked to the industrial product process, to encourage investments in new and/or existing production facilities that enable the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
The subsidies will amount to a maximum of 1,500,000 euros per company.
The commitment to decarbonization is aligned with the necessary energy transition, for which technological development and deepening innovation are essential.
In addition, through the program HAZITEK94 million people have been allowed to finally support 750 corporate R&D projects. These are projects that hope to mobilize more than 600 million euros in investments and involve 1,873 companies.
On the other hand, the Basque government has approved the call for an amount of 16.8 million euros to promote sustainable fishing and facilitate generational change in the region. fishing and aquaculture sector from Euskadi.
Helplines for, among other things, the sustainable management of fish stocks, waste collection at sea and on beaches; energy efficiency and climate change mitigation, replacement or modernization of engines; initial assistance for young fishermen and training; promoting innovation and research in fisheries and aquaculture; and investments in marketing, transformation and promotion of fisheries and aquaculture products.
Finally, Euskadi will allocate 5.6 million euros to public projects for the promotion and development of rural areas contribute to improving the quality of life of the rural population, the rehabilitation of the cities, the creation of employment and the promotion of tourism in the rural areas of Euskadi.
