160 passengers on board – Russian Airbus had to make an emergency landing in Siberia

Date:

A Russian passenger plane with more than 160 people on board made an emergency landing in Siberia on Tuesday. A technical problem caused the plane to land in a field, Russian authorities said. The passengers were temporarily housed in the nearest village.

No one was reportedly injured in the incident. There were conflicting reports about the number of people on board. According to the online platform The Aviation Herald, 159 passengers and six crew members are housed in the nearest village. Other sources spoke of a total of 161 or 167 or 170 people.

The Airbus A320 of the Russian airline Ural Airlines came from the Black Sea city of Sochi and was on its way to Omsk. At 4:44 a.m. our time, the plane had to make an “unplanned” landing in a field near the village of Kamenka in the Novosibirsk region. An investigation has been launched into “violations of aviation safety regulations,” the report said.

No major damage
The technical problems were not detailed. Western sanctions have caused Russia to have problems with maintenance and access to spare parts for Airbus and Boeing aircraft. Lately there have been concerns about flight safety. Rescuers released images of the plane with emergency slides extended on Tuesday. No major damage was visible.
