In Edenkoben (Rhineland-Palatinate), a ten-year-old girl was kidnapped and sexually abused on her way to school. A 61-year-old man was arrested as a suspect after a wild chase – with the girl in the car. The alleged perpetrator had a previous conviction for sex offenses and had already been in prison for several years.
The girl was dragged into a car on the way to school shortly before 8 a.m. on Monday. The suspect then fled across unpaved roads and assaulted his victim. Thanks to a witness who found the car suspicious and alerted the police, they were finally able to locate the suspect and free the girl.
But the suspected child molester initially tried to evade arrest with a spectacular chase. He allegedly caused three accidents before he was arrested and the ten-year-old was released. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accidents.
“Bild” published a photo of the suspect:
Neighbor: “He openly threatened murder!”
What was unbelievable about the incident: According to the newspaper ‘Bild’, parents had warned weeks ago about the man who was seen watching children in playgrounds, kindergartens and schools, and photos of the man were circulated on social media. “We always warned everyone about him, but the police kept letting him go. Even when he told the judge during a hearing that his next victim could no longer identify him. He openly threatened murder!”, a neighbor of the suspect told “Bild”.
Police warned against ‘participation in rumours’
He also allegedly tried to kidnap a teenager shortly before: “A few weeks ago, this criminal pulled a 16-year-old into a car in Lambrecht and still remained free. I can’t understand that. This is a judicial scandal and we are all afraid of this man here,” said a bus driver from the region. According to ‘Bild’, the police took no action when informed of the unusual behavior and warned ‘against rumours’: ‘We ask you not to participate in this. Particularly by distributing images, you can make yourself liable for prosecution.” All necessary measures to avert potential dangers have been prepared, the police tried to reassure.
