Due to changes in the supply of books to schools, some major publishers are currently experiencing supply problems. They have switched to ‘extra night shifts’ and ‘non-stop service’.
The Austrian publishers deliver to local schools throughout Austria via bookstores at the start of the school period. This usually happens in a seamless collaboration and children receive their books on time.
The current school year has already started, but many students are still in class without books. Due to a change in logistics and delivery, two publishers are experiencing delivery delays.
Night shifts converted to non-stop operation
The Book and Media Industry Association “regrets these delivery issues”: “The affected publishers are working hard to quickly get the delivery issues under control and have switched to non-stop operations with additional night shifts,” it said.
Chairman Friedrich Hinterschweiger is confident that this unpleasant situation will be resolved quickly. “The most important thing now is to ensure that all schools and all children receive their schoolbooks. But we must also take countermeasures now for the future so that such problems can be avoided in the future,” he said.
