Italy’s bath tourism expects a summer tree. Between June and August, the seaside resorts are expected to be 20.7 million and 110.1 million overnight stays, which corresponds to an increase of 2 percent and 1.1 percent compared to the same period in 2024, a study was created on behalf of the Assoturismo Confersari Association together with the Italian Ministry of Tourism.
About 1500 accommodation companies were interviewed at Italian locations by the sea. The number of foreigners is increasing: in absolute numbers an increase in arrivals is expected by 415,000 units, while the number of overnight stays will probably increase by almost 1.2 million.
Italian demand will also dominate this year: Italian holidaymakers form 56.8 percent of the overnight stays, which corresponds to an increase of 0.6 percent compared to the summer of 2024.
The number of foreign guests is increasing
The number of foreign guests is also increasing: an estimated 47.5 million overnight stays are expected between June and August, 840,000 more (an increase of 1.8 percent) than last summer.
With a share of foreign guests of 30 percent, Germany has always been the most important foreign market. This is followed by Austria, Switzerland, France, Great Britain and the Netherlands. In the upper Adriatic way, popular with Austrian guests, an increase of 1.4 percent is expected, which corresponds to 23.9 million nights.
Positive trend
This year, growth confirms the positive trend of beach tourism. In the past ten years, the arrivals in the resorts aan Zee have increased by 23.4 percent, while overnight stays have increased by 15.9 percent. These figures correspond to the general trend throughout Italy tourism, where arrivals have risen by 14 percent and the overnight stay by 16.7 percent. In 2024, Italian beach tourism generated a turnover of 22 billion euros.
