A Kosovan criminal (38) was particularly brutal when he committed several burglaries and traded drugs together with a fellow countryman in Upper Austria. The man, who had been convicted several times, always stole the same car as the crime vehicle in Wels and returned it with fresh fuel.
This man acted completely shamelessly. After threatening his ex-wife with a gun, he was arrested for bodily harm and dangerous threats. An entry and residence ban was also imposed on the Kosovar (38), who did not live in Austria, and he is being investigated on suspicion of drug trafficking.
The safe was broken into and documents were burned
But apparently he didn’t care about any of that. Together with a well-known compatriot (22), he is said to have committed several business burglaries in Upper Austria. After a coup on September 10 at a company in Leonding, he and the accomplice drove to Mühlbach on Lunzerstrasse in Linz. There they broke open the stolen safe and burned documents they did not need.
But a passerby noticed. Fearing the fire would spread, she noticed the getaway car and alerted police. A major manhunt resulted. The crucial observation was eventually made by an off-duty police officer, who reported the suspicious vehicle to his colleagues. The result was a daring escape through the Linz city area. The burglars ran along Turmstrasse and Wiener Strasse in the direction of Muldenstrasse to Bindermichl and back, sometimes at speeds of 120 km/h.
Roadblock ended the escape
During this journey (the 22-year-old, who does not have a driver’s license, was driving the car) several police patrol crews were placed in enormous danger. Eventually a roadblock was set up on Wankmüllerhofstrasse. The getaway car then crashed into a traffic sign. Both prisoners were under the influence of drugs. They were arrested.
Car owners didn’t notice anything
During interrogation, the 38-year-old confessed to numerous other burglaries, thefts, suppression of documents, damage to property and the unauthorized use of several vehicles. Parts of the current burglary loot and other stolen goods were recovered from the getaway car. The Kosovar also admitted that he had repeatedly stolen the same car in Wels before his crimes and then returned it with fuel. Apparently the car owner didn’t notice anything. He also admitted trafficking at least 250 grams of crystal meth over a two-and-a-half month period.
His 22-year-old accomplice is also accused of resisting state authority.
