A dangerous murderer in the US state of Pennsylvania was on the run for two weeks after escaping from prison. On Wednesday, 34-year-old Danelo Cavalcante was arrested – thanks in part to the powerful help of a Belgian shepherd dog from the police.
The 34-year-old Brazilian has been arrested, police in the eastern United States state said on Wednesday. Footage (see video above) showed heavily armed police officers taking the man and putting him in an armored vehicle. “He was arrested this morning and no shots were fired,” Gov. Josh Shapiro said at a news conference.
Police dog bites escaped refugee
A plane with thermal imaging cameras had previously tracked the 34-year-old in the bushes. Police officers approached from all sides and released police dogs. Four-year-old “Yoda” was the first to arrive. The Belgian shepherd dog bit Cavalcante and the criminal surrendered when officers arrived.
This ends a search for the fugitive killer that has been going on since the end of August, which has kept the US on edge and recently involved around 500 police officers. The 34-year-old escaped from jail in Chester County, west of the Pennsylvania city, on August 31.
Police posted a video of Cavalcante’s outburst on Facebook:
Ex-girlfriend murdered in front of children
Police were looking for the man who killed his ex-girlfriend with 38 stab wounds in April 2021 in the presence of her children. The 34-year-old always managed to evade authorities in rural areas.
