Until Thursday, the BEC welcomes more than 7,000 professionals from the agro-food industry

The first day of the conference will be devoted to dealing with the intelligent production of food in the fishing, meat and agritech industries using big data or artificial intelligence.

Bilbao Exhibition Center (BEC) organizes until Thursday the second edition of the Food 4 Future competition that has 283 exhibiting companies and expects to bring together more than 7,000 agri-food industry professionals from more than 30 countries.

under the motto: “The Foodtech Revolution”the event aims to position the Basque Country as a hub for food innovation at an international level and to give these professionals the opportunity to promote said innovation in their business model.

The exhibiting companies will showcase their latest technology solutions and food products to professionals in the food and beverage sector who will “help modernize and digitize” the entire industry value chain, from raw materials to logistics processes.

In addition, 386 international experts participate in the World top Food 4 Futurethe largest European congress on food innovation where they discuss the challenges of the sector in all its segments: meat, fish, dairy, oil industry, agriculture, cereals, canned goods and beverages.

The first day of the congress is committed to dealing with the intelligent production of food in the fisheries, meat and agritech industries using big data or artificial intelligence.

The second day focuses on the global treatment of sustainability, looking at new protein sources and ingredients and how they can transform the diet and consumption patterns of societies to become more sustainable. Likewise, the reduction of waste, emissions and use of plastics will be analyzed with the presentation of novelties in packaging.

The third and last day will study health and food safety using new technologies. The food revolution will be led by speakers such as Andoni Luis Aduriz, from Mugaritz, Ignacio Muñoz, from Angulas Aguinaga, Carmen Gómez-Acebo, from Coca Cola or Ricardo Fernández, from Carrefour, and many others.

In addition to the explanatory part, in the information part, the Basque public companies will offer presentations and technical conferences during the three days of the event. In this are experts from Neiker, Hazi and Elika They will speak on topics such as the application of data science in agriculture, sustainability, carbon footprint reduction, analysis of emerging consumer needs, biosensor technology and applications of artificial intelligence.

For its part, the city council has emphasized that with this event, Bilbao will become “the food tech capital of the world” this week and that this forum will generate an economic impact of 14 million for the city.
