It concerns millions – full of superlatives: Oktoberfest in numbers

Oktoberfest is the largest folk festival in the world. Every year in mid-September the motto is: “O’zapft is!” – and thousands are following the call. This year the Oktoberfest lasts two days longer than usual and you can celebrate it at the Theresienwiese until October 3.

But until the curfew, that means: millions of visitors, millions of pints of beer and millions of dishes sold over the counter. In addition, there are countless alcoholic corpses, reports and deployment of rescue or police forces. But the festival has much more to offer…

The folk festival in figures:

• The Oktoberfest is big Economic factor for Munich. Visitors to the Oktoberfest spent around 1.25 billion euros on the site in 2019. Foreign guests brought another 802 million euros into the city’s coffers.
