The “Krone” has invited, the Styrian celebrities have come: Aufsteirern 2023 has started with the reception on the Mariahilferplatz in Graz! We asked the guests: Do they know the words to the national anthem?
“High from the Dachstein…” – almost everyone still knows the first words of the Styrian national anthem. but what happens next? Styrian celebrities and politicians asked themselves this question on Saturday morning at the “Krone” Alm in Aufsteirern. And this well in advance: most are text-safe!
Ice legend Charly Temmel was the first to venture in front of the microphone of the “Krone”. “I’m Styrian, so you should know that!” he says. Also director of tourism for Styria Michael Holiday was of course lyrically certain: “…where the Aar still lives. That is simple.”
The FPÖ leader did well Mario Kunasek. “To the Wendeland in the Drau Valley,” he combined lines two and four. “Unfortunately, the national anthem is sung far too little these days.”
The governor paid special attention at school Christopher Drexler, where every word fits the chorus exactly. As number one in the country, you obviously don’t have to show the nakedness of a follower.
Starting signal for the folk culture festival
The reception at the “Krone” Alm was not only a test for our politicians, but also the starting signal for this year’s climb. For the first time, the folk culture festival extends across the Mur to Mariahilferplatz. There will be a party, culinary enjoyment, dancing, singing and more all Saturday and Sunday.
