Russia has imposed a travel ban on EU leaders and members of parliament. “The restrictions apply to top EU officials, including some EU Commissioners and heads of EU military structures, as well as the vast majority of MEPs who support anti-Russian policies,” it said. The share of Russian aircraft must be increased
Western sanctions against civil aviation have also put Russia under considerable pressure. Western airspace is closed to Russian airlines. Russia lacks western technology for its civilian fleet. Most jets are also leased – and belong to aircraft financiers outside the country. Putin said that the share of Russian aircraft in the fleet of domestic airlines should therefore be drastically increased.
