A cycling trip in western Styria ended badly on Sunday: a 43-year-old and her 57-year-old partner were riding e-bikes when the woman suddenly fell and was left unconscious by the side of the road. She suffered serious head injuries and was taken to hospital after resuscitation.

Unconscious on the side of the road
The 57-year-old only noticed after about 100 meters that his partner was no longer behind him. When he turned around and drove back, his partner was lying unconscious on the right side of the road.
Two passing cyclists made the emergency call and started CPR until the rescue team and rescue helicopter arrived. The 43-year-old suffered serious head injuries and was not wearing a bicycle helmet.
