Frozen mushrooms are a tasty treat all year round – but three southern Styrians brought the alleged treasures from the freezer to the hospital on Monday afternoon.
After two men (76 and 62) and a woman (72) in Leutschach ate mushrooms they had collected the year before, they suddenly felt very bad. They suffered from “enormous gastrointestinal complaints”, according to the Red Cross.
The pain and digestive problems were so severe that the Southern Styrians had to be taken to the LKH Wagna by ambulance! It is not known whether the wrong mushrooms have already been collected or whether the poisoning has another cause.
