Republicans start an impeachment trial against Biden with no chance of success

Conservatives accuse the US president of using his influence as vice president to help several family members over alleged irregular relations with China.

The Republicans of the United States House of Representatives started an impeachment trial against the president on Thursday. Joe Bidenfor an alleged one family corruption networkalthough it has no chance of passing as they do not have a majority in the Senate.

Conservatives accuse Biden of it after using his influence while vice president of the United States in the administration of Barack Obama (2009-2017) to assist his son Hunter Biden and other family members in alleged illegal dealings with China.

For the Democrats, however, it is nothing more than one political maneuver to divert attention from the legal siege weighing on former President Donald Trump (2017-2021), heavy favorite for the Republican nomination for the 2024 elections.

The House of Commons Oversight Committee, dominated by Republicans since the November 2022 midterm elections, met on Thursday the first hearing on the investigation into the impeachment against Biden.
