Worth up to $100 million: Debris from a missing fighter jet surfaces

Date:

After an expensive American fighter jet disappeared from the face of the earth following a failed training flight, debris from the plane has apparently been found. The pilot saved himself on Sunday using the ejection seat, but the plane disappeared after the incident, so the military turned to social media to ask for help in the search.

Debris from the plane was discovered in Williamsburg County, South Carolina, Joint Base Charleston announced Monday evening (local time).

The missing model was a VTOL aircraft
The military then asked the public for help finding the F-35. This caused ridicule. According to various reports, the fighter jet currently costs between 80 and 100 million dollars (75.03 to 93.78 million euros). The F-35 stealth aircraft of the American defense company Lockheed Martin is considered one of the most modern fighter aircraft in the world. The aircraft that was missing in the meantime was an F-35B, a vertical take-off aircraft that covers shorter distances.

“The US military lacks an F-35. If you find one, it could be their plane,” said the American broadcaster CNN at noon. “We knew the F-35 was stealthy, but this is ridiculous,” South Carolina Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
