Green passport expires – 456,000 vaccination certificates have not been renewed

Date:

456,000 people in Austria have so far had their corona vaccination certificate expired and have received no further vaccinations. The Ministry of Health has announced that 600,000 green passports will expire in the coming months if those affected do not recover or receive further immunization. There is still no solution for canceling booster vaccinations where there is still no advice for a fourth suture.

So far, 185 primary vaccinations – ie certificates of people who have been vaccinated three times or who have recovered and then vaccinated twice – have expired. For example, you received the third vaccination early. For example, as of July 1, 2021, which is nine months ago, the ministry’s vaccination dashboard shows 127 third stitches, according to information from the APA.

“Find a solution in time”
From May 1, there will be 820 more basic vaccinations in Austria, according to the office of Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens). There is no solution for these people yet. “We are currently working on this to find a solution in time,” the department assures. Because it was only in mid-June that “an increase in the number of current basic vaccinations began. About 77,000 primary vaccinations will be carried out in Austria by the end of June,” it was explained using data from Thursday’s e-vaccination card.

Third sutures are currently valid for 270 days. By the end of March, 455,735 first vaccination series (two vaccinations or recovery and one vaccination) had expired and by May 1, there will be about 600,000 new first vaccination series if those affected do not receive the third injection or become infected with the virus.

Fourth vaccination currently not approved
“There is currently no general recommendation for a fourth vaccination,” the ministry stressed. According to the recommendations for use from the National Vaccination Commission (NIG), a fourth vaccination is currently not allowed and little data is available in immunocompetent people.

Further vaccination can be offered
However, the NIG continues: “Taking into account the epidemiological situation with high daily case numbers and high virus circulation, persons at risk and persons over 65 years of age, in whom a shorter vaccination duration is to be expected, cannot be administered earlier than six months after the third vaccination according to individual benefit. – Risk assessment by the doctor and further vaccination can be offered on personal request.”

Validity 270 days
As there is still no advice from the NIG, people who have already had or are about to have their fourth suture will initially only receive a 3/3 or 3/1 vaccination certificate with a new date, depending on the vaccine. The validity of the newly issued vaccination certificate is 270 days from the day of vaccination. As soon as there is a recommendation for a fourth vaccination, the numbering of the vaccination certificates already issued and to be issued new will be adjusted.

“There is no disadvantage to the respective persons, as the validity of the vaccination certificates is calculated from the date of vaccination,” emphasized the cabinet of Minister Rauch. However, based on the numbering, it is not clear whether a fourth stitch has already been applied.
