Early Thursday morning, another Russian missile attack took place on the Ukrainian capital Kiev. Seven people were injured, including a child. Falling debris from fired rockets caused damage.
According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, an explosion took place in Kiev’s Darnytsya district and the city’s military administration published images of rocket debris causing a fire. Fire brigade and rescue workers are present.
Infrastructure damaged
Two other districts were hit by rocket parts and a gas pipeline was damaged. Electricity and water supplies were also interrupted in several residential areas, Klitschko explained, according to the newspaper “Ukraijnska Pravda”.
A woman (18) and a nine-year-old girl were injured by rocket debris and taken to a hospital. A total of seven injured people were treated.
Russia: 19 drones shot down
Meanwhile, Russia says it shot down 19 Ukrainian drones over the Crimean Peninsula and the Black Sea during the night. The Russian Defense Ministry said on Telegram that three more drones were intercepted in three other regions of the country. The ministry said three more planes were shot down in the Kursk, Belgorod and Orel regions. A total of 22 drones were shot down.
Against the backdrop of the Ukrainian counter-offensive, drone attacks on Russian territory and annexed Crimea have increased in recent weeks. The capital Moscow in particular is a target.
