Serious accident in Nassereith in the Tyrolean district of Imst on Wednesday: a local woman (60) fell into the rope at the climbing garden. Her German climbing partner (35) was able to stop the fall, but the 60-year-old was still seriously injured.
The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. The 60-year-old climbed the 14-meter-long “Inspiration” route in the “Sparchet” climbing garden in Nassereith. This has a difficulty level of 4c. “The woman climbed into the lead and was secured by the 35-year-old,” police said. When the climber reached the third intermediate belay, she suddenly lost her balance.
Mountain rescuers and helicopters rushed to help
She then fell about ten feet into the rope. “Her climbing partner was able to stop the fall, but she seriously injured her right ankle.” The 35-year-old descended to the foot of the wall, alerted emergency services and began first aid. The Nassereith mountain rescue service went to the 60-year-old, attended to her and called the emergency medical helicopter “RK2”. The seriously injured victim was rescued in the dark using a cable winch and flown to Zams Hospital.
