After the fire in an alpine building in Sibratsgfäll in the Bregenzerwald (Vorarlberg), the 75-year-old resident was admitted to the Bregenz State Hospital on Friday evening due to suspected smoke poisoning. The man had warned the rescuers that the living area of his Alpe was on fire.
On Friday around 5:25 p.m., the 75-year-old resident of an alm in the municipality of Sibratsgfäll reported that the residential area of his alm was on fire. The alpine owner was able to rescue two horses from the stable building unharmed; there were no other people or animals in the building.
Man admitted to hospital
The man was taken to the Bregenz State Hospital with suspected smoke poisoning. Both the cause of the fire and the extent of the material damage are currently being investigated.
The fire brigades Sibratsgfäll, Hittisau and Lingenau were on standby with a total of eight vehicles, as were the fire brigades Andelsbuch and Doren. According to the district fire inspector, a total of approximately 80 firefighters were on site.
