“Cultural reasons” – Children’s degree children were not allowed to make anything

Date:

Mother’s Day ended with a great disappointment for some mothers in the Baden district of Lower Austria. The reason: their little ones had not made anything for them in kindergarten. Of course the anger is not aimed at the descendants, but against the supervisors. Because they had given “cultural reasons” for the decision. Now they clearly row back.

Mother’s Day and homemade gifts of the little ones: that is somehow together. But not for some mothers in the Baden district this year. Because their children have not designed anything for them this year in kindergarten. “I even asked a supervisor the week later if the gift might only have been forgotten and still lay around somewhere,” reports the mother (41) of a five -year -old. After all, her daughter has always made something for her with her own hands in the care institution.

“He is not celebrated everywhere”
But the answer surprised and shocked at the same time: there are no gifts at all this year. However, the 41-year-old came up with the justification. “I was told that there was the instruction to do nothing about Mother’s Day out of consideration for other cultures because it is not celebrated everywhere,” says the woman in the “Krone” interview. A written request from her in kindergarten remained unanswered. However, it should not have been a general instruction, but an individual decision. “Gifts are made in at least another group,” said the mother.

“Just a spontaneous response”
But apparently the excitement about it was too great. As the responsible department of the country confirms, the parent picnic is used for Tuesday to design gifts for Mother and Father’s Day at the same time on handiwork- slightly less than a week and a half after the first and three weeks before the last. Nobody wants to believe that this is always planned. Because the event was planned months ago, but there was no question of handicrafting together, even in the written invitation. “This is now just a spontaneous response to the vertebrae caused,” you certainly know in the affected community.

Lunar bear parallel
In the painted gifts, memories of the Moon Bear, who were activated by a St. Pöltner -Kindergarten last year, came quickly. There, the traditional Martinsfest had been replaced by a moon and aster festival officially out of consideration for two-year-olds, to whom the history of St. Martin did not expect. The year before, the first Nikolo received “house ban” in a kindergarten in the Tulln district.

Both initiatives from the kindergarten had hit high political waves. At the end of the previous year, Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner also found clear words. The importance of traditional festivals was supported in a letter to all kindergartens. “This gives values such as stability, helpfulness and respect,” Mikl-Leitner emphasized at the time.

And even the current solo, at least one kindergarten group does not remain politically undisputed. “Instead of working against domestic culture, the educator must stick to the state laws,” FPö Training spokesperson Michael Sommer refers to the recently decision of measures against radical Islam. Nache: “There must finally be a turn of 180 degrees here: it is not that we have to adapt to the mass migrants, but to us.”
