A teenager (16) on a moped led a kilometer-long chase with the police in Tyrol on Sunday. The wild ride at far too high speeds eventually ended in a corn field. After a brief game of hide and seek, the speeder was arrested.
Shortly after 5 p.m., a police patrol on Tiroler Straße in Schwaz noticed a moped that was not registered for traffic. It later emerged that a 16-year-old local man was traveling with him. The officers tried unsuccessfully to stop the teen with the blue lights and horn. But the driver drove towards Weer at far too high speed and managed to escape for the time being.
Hiding from officials in a cornfield
“During the chase, the fleeing driver in the municipality of Pill twice tried to force the officers off the road by means of risky driving maneuvers. “The risky driving style also endangered other road users,” said the driver. In Weer, the 16-year-old eventually abandoned his vehicle in a corn field and hid from the police for a while until he was finally arrested without resistance. The young man now faces several charges.
