It is every parent’s nightmare: unidentified men are said to have approached several children in East Tyrol and tried to lure them into the car with sweets. The police are asking for information.
Over the past week and a half, a bus driver and two mothers separately reported to the police in Sillian that a total of three cases of children had been approached by strangers or that the children had expressed suspicious perceptions.
Unidentified people in a black car
An incident took place in the center of Innervillgraten – near the municipal office. Two children aged 10 and 12 were offered sweets. The people were two middle-aged men with darker skin color driving a black car with foreign license plates. “In another case, a 12-year-old boy was approached by two dark-skinned men in the vicinity of the parking lot of the Innervillgraten Volunteer Fire Department on Monday between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.,” police said. The 12-year-old also allegedly received candy. But the boy refused and cycled home.
Boy (11) heard two bangs
In the course of further investigation, the 12-year-old’s mother brought along another child who had noticed something suspicious in the nearby “Gutnigger Waldele” playground. From a distance of about 50 yards, the 11-year-old observed two middle-aged men firing something from a “gun-like” device, causing two loud bangs to be heard. The boy and his friend then fled the scene. No further traces were found during subsequent investigations of the playground.
Anyone who has made suspicious observations in this context is requested to contact PI Sillian on 059133 – 7238. They are also appealed to report any incidents to the police as quickly as possible.
