An 81-year-old German was injured in a bicycle accident in the municipality of Nassereith (Imst district) in Tyrol on Tuesday afternoon when he collided with a tree. The man was probably incorrectly equipped for the chosen route.
Shortly before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, the 81-year-old cycled behind his wife (67) on a footpath in a forest area towards the center of Nassereith. According to police, he was riding an old men’s bicycle and was wearing only shorts and sandals, but no helmet.
Crashed head-on into a tree
Suddenly the elderly man left the narrow path and collided head-on with a tree, injuring himself. The rescue helicopter flew the injured German to the hospital in Zams.
