Not a week goes by without activists from the last generation drawing attention to the climate crisis. On Wednesday morning they blocked the Vienna Ring again, briefly causing a traffic jam in early morning traffic.
“We are protesting on the Ringstrasse for 1,000 seconds today – because we have not had a climate protection law for 1,000 days,” the Last Generation explained on social media.
This time even with a direct message to the Viennese police: “After 16 minutes and 40 seconds we are breaking up our meeting!” And exactly after these 1000 seconds, the activists ended their unannounced sit-in.
Your requirements
The climate activists are calling, among other things, for a speed limit of 100 km/h on Austrian highways and no new oil and gas projects or a general ban on fracking.
Protests in various states
During their latest ‘protest wave’ in early September, the climate stickers not only took place in Vienna, but were also placed on the streets of other states to draw attention to the climate crisis.
