A 22-year-old gave passers-by a big scare in Vienna’s Waldmüller Park on Tuesday evening. The reason: he fired his blank pistol into the air.
The bizarre incident took place at 10:40 p.m. Some visitors to the park suddenly heard gunshots and called the police in alarm.

When police arrived on the scene, they were able to quickly track down the troublemaker. The 22-year-old admitted to firing his blank pistol into the air five times. But at the same time he had a good excuse: he wanted to celebrate his birthday properly.
Weapon found in bushes
The officers then found the weapon in nearby bushes and recovered it. The 22-year-old was reported on suspicion of endangering physical safety. A temporary weapons ban was also issued against him. No one was injured in the incident.
