In July, the discount on Metro Bilbao remained invalid for 13 days due to an “error” by the Bizkaia Transport Consortium.
The General Assemblies of Bizkaia (JJGG) have unanimously approved an initiative to compensate those who used the Bilbao metro for 13 days in July by paying 100% of the ticket and were unable to benefit from public transport discounts.
This Wednesday, all groups supported an amendment initially proposed by EH Bildu and negotiated by PNV and PSE-EE, so that the Bizkaia transport consortium take the necessary measures to compensate “as soon as possible” for this “error” by charging metro fares without bonus, except on line 3.
The EH Bildu group had initially requested that the Bizkaia Transport Consortium (CTB) refund to its travel cards 50% of what was charged during the first 13 days of July, when the Metro Bilbao discount was invalid.
The approved initiative ultimately leaves it to the CTB to determine the measures aimed at compensating the largest number of people who traveled by metro at the time.
Those first days of July coincided with the departure of the Tour de France from Bilbao and with BBK Live, with thousands of people using the metro to get around.
