“Operation Samos” now proved fatal for an Austrian: the 56-year-old tried to cross the border into Greece with a truckload of cannabis seeds and plantation accessories.
For months, investigators had been tracking him as part of “Operation Samos” – now the targeted Austrian fell into a trap in Kakavia on the Albanian-Greek border: customs officials had already expected him and discovered everything in the 56-year-old car needed for a professional marijuana plantation.
High-tech plantation equipment
In addition to already harvested marijuana (57 grams), 250 ml of cannabis oil and 4999 euros in cash, the suspect had a total of 190,000 “grass” seeds and numerous high-tech devices for indoor cultivation. According to investigators, the cargo should have landed on the island of Samos.
