Police officers were called on Wednesday morning because an explosive grenade was found at a construction site during construction work on Vienna-Landstrasse.
Workers made the surprising discovery during construction work around 7:20 a.m. They immediately alerted the police. Before it arrived, they set up a barrier circle so no one could get near the grenade.
Grenade was removed
Together with the mine clearance service of the Austrian Armed Forces, the grenade was removed without further incident.

If an explosive device is found, police advise you to note its location and keep a safe distance. Objects and war materials suspected of being explosive may also not be moved or manipulated.
