Michael Diettrich, spokesperson for the Vorarlberg Poverty Conference, looks back on the past year with the “Krone” and dares to look ahead to 2024: Recession, housing and the labor market will be the defining topics.
Crown: Let’s start with a look back at the year 2023: it was post-pandemic and people somehow got used to the war in Ukraine. What stood out to you most during these twelve months?
Michael Diettrich: Something many people don’t even notice is the economic collapse. Germany is already in recession, and Austria is also facing a decline. The first signs on the labor market are already visible, but there will be many more unemployed people. Because no appropriate measures are being taken.
