The fire brigades in Mürztal (Styria) had to deal with two forest fire operations within a few hours. They had to move on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning – in both cases the cause of the fire is still unclear.
The first fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon at 1,300 meters above sea level in the Wildalpe area. The Frein volunteer fire brigade (municipality of Neuberg an der Mürz) was called to the fire with a siren – a total of about 50 square meters of forest was on fire. Seven fire brigades with 14 vehicles and 80 emergency services were deployed until the fire was extinguished.
However, just a few hours later – around 10.25 am on Thursday – the Floriani had to leave again. This time a rootstock burned down in the vicinity of Proles. Eight fire brigades with 12 vehicles and 37 emergency services were deployed.
In both cases, the cause of the fire is still unclear.
